Laura Whidden - A Bridge For Those Who Need Help
Laura is back! As passionate and compelling as ever bringing her life-changing music and powerful soprano vocals back into the recording studio! Her ministry is transforming seekers and believers alike as she continues her mission of restoring to humanity an awe of God leading to worship, repentance and a personal relationship both with others and their Creator.
Laura’s newest CD "Love's Pure Light" A Laura Whidden Christmas is a collection of Christmas favorites along with a couple of nostalgic originals. Her warm vocals and the heartwarming arrangements will have you snuggling by the fire with a hot drink. Accompanied by melodic piano and acoustic guitar; Laura’s music hits at the core of who we are. Her compelling lyrics lead the listener into a moving encounter with Christ. Her concerts are an intimate sharing of her music and her testimony: the stories behind the songs. Laura is not shy about sharing her own triumphs and challenges and in the sharing others are freed from their own feelings of isolation and regain the God-given legacy of hope that her music inspires.
The audience shares a unique experience with Laura as they choose chords to help her bring a story or verse from the Bible to life in a song they create together. Her life story has imparted to Laura a special personal understanding of struggle. She has a particular passion to help teenage girls struggling with problems like anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders, mental health problems and the challenges presented by juggling all the challenges presented by motherhood while trying to maintain the love and support of a husband.
“There's a little piece of my own story in every song, and the one constant in my life is the all- encompassing, accepting love of Christ that makes my life worth living. I hope when people hear my music, it will help them feel the love of God and sense their worth in Him." Often compared to Sarah McLaughlin and Ella Fitzgerald, Laura’s musical styling are uniquely her own. Among her musical influences she lists Sara Barellis, Sara Groves, and Ingrid Michaelson. Laura shares her gift in church concerts and small coffee shop style settings such as the South Bend Chocolate Café in South Bend, IN just down the road and around the bend from the Berrien Springs, Michigan, home she shares with Cory and daughter Loralai, now 9, and their beloved minpin, Pepina.
Her largest live audience to date has been a crowd of 25,000 young people attending an international youth event held in Wisconsin. She has performed for audiences via satellite through a broadcast to 60 different countries during a global evangelism campaign. http://www.laurawhiddenmusic.com/
